Sella & Mosca

One of the great Italian reds , a benchmark among Bordeaux-style wines and feather in the cap of the Sella & Mosca project. Made from cabernet sauvignon grapes grown on strong, iron-bearing clay that an ancient geological upheaval mixed with windborne sands. A terroir that shapes and influences the varietals in a Mediterranean key, making the wine unique and captivating. After the harvest, the grapes ferment for an extended period on the skins, after which the wine is aged in barriques for about 14 months. After bottling, the wine is cellared for another 18 months. With a saturated ruby red color and purple highlights, it is enveloped by ample, very intense aromas, defined by notes of black cherry and blackcurrants, tobacco and spice.
To the palate it is rhythmic and silky, with depth and structure that its good acidity keeps in formidable balance. The finish is warm and seductive, exceptionally persistent.

A rare and precious varietal, rediscovered and rehabilitated by Sella & Mosca over years and years, torbato grows best in calcareous soil originating from ancient marine sedimentation. Its bunches are carefully culled to select those that stand out for their acidity, so that the must will acquire the most desirable characteristics for producing spumante.

The Gallura area and Vermentino, an inseparable pairing that reminds one of magical tales about the great whites. Sella & Mosca cultivates its grapes on the slopes of the south side of Mount Limbara, whose soils are characterized by broken-down granitic rubble and a hot climate, but with excellent temperature variations during the summer. In the cellar, the grapes are soft-pressed, cold-macerated lightly and then left to ferment for an extended period. The resulting white wine is extraordinarily expressive, fresh and delicious.

Child of the Mistral, the strong northerly wind that lashesimpetuously the Alghero coast, La Cala is a fresh, savoured, intriguing wine, where the aromatic typicality of the vine is perfectly extolled.

Cannonau is the oenological nexus of Sardinia, and perhaps of the entire Mediterranean basin. Sella & Mosca lavishes extra care on it, cultivating it in the warm and sandy seaside vineyards and the harsh and rocky inland soils of the hills.
